Discover the Artistic Vision of Peter Reginato Studio

Following the remarkable success of CHROMA, his acclaimed solo exhibition in Athens, Peter Reginato enters a new and particularly confident chapter in his practice. The exhibition marked a pivotal moment in his recent trajectory, introducing European audiences to a body of work defined by chromatic intensity, rhythmic composition, and an unmistakable sense of joy. The response—from collectors, institutions, and the public alike—confirmed what Reginato himself has often said: that this late period of his career is among his most vital and inventive.

Building on the energy of CHROMA and inspired by his subsequent travels across Europe, Reginato unveiled a new collection during his annual holiday studio gathering in New York. At first glance, these new paintings feel closely related to the CHROMA works; they share the same bold chromatic language, dynamic movement, and playful confidence. Yet on closer inspection, they reveal a distinct evolution. The surfaces are denser, more mineral, almost marble-like—layered in a way that resists immediate readability. The artist’s process becomes harder to decipher, the technique more elusive, inviting the viewer to linger longer, to look beyond the surface.

This subtle shift marks a refinement rather than a rupture. Reginato’s new works feel more distilled, more self-assured, as if color itself has been compressed into something both luminous and sculptural. The difficulty of “reading” how the paintings are made becomes part of their fascination. The works hover between gesture and structure, spontaneity and control. Together, the recent collections suggest an artist not revisiting past success, but pushing it further—deepening a visual language that continues to evolve, surprise, and assert its relevance.
